What’s wrong with the slogan ‘Mera jism, mere marzey-My body my will’ ? Doesn’t seem vulgar to me. It’s always hard to write on issues like these which are delicate as well as controversial. Religion and women issues in the Islamic republic of Pakistan can’t be discussed very openly and rationally. Actually, these two subjects are considered above thoughts to which reason doesn’t apply. Anyhow, the Aurat march deserves some debate.
A few days ago, mor (mother) argued, ‘What more do these women want, enough is enough, for these shameful women do not deserve to be treated with respect, anymore.’ She placed some arguments which were above logic and reason. Usually, in situation like these, a rational person is left speechless. And, so was I.
Hailing from a pure Pakhtun family and living in a society completely dominated by men, i would say, ‘Yes, women are suffering, atleast in this part of Earth’. It might be strange for ears to hear this but primitive men had great respect for women. Their bodies were praised for they were capable of producing offsprings and men used to spit on their bodies for not having the magical power of reproduction – Khalil-ur-Rehman was wrong when he said, ‘Tumharay jism may hay kia – And what good lies in your body’. I don’t understand why this man said it, but as long as i am concerned, he might have come out of a pig’s hole rather than a woman’s womb.
And, allow me to tell you one more fact : ancient men used to worship a Goddess rather than a God. This was her status. Research and studies were conducted on their bodies. She was elevated to a position which the newfangled world cannot even imagine at all, or in all its grace.
Today, we live in a society where woman is treated no less than a slave. Her words are seen parallel to – that is what you think – cervical fluid discharging out of a whore’s vag*na. You people marry, because you need a cleaner, to wash your family’s clothes ; a cook, who could prepare lunch and dinner ; a helper, who could clean your house ; and finally, a s*x object, you could f*ck when you are lying in bed with a hard d*ck. You don’t need a wife, at all.
Marital rapes are ever increasing and when she says, ‘Mera jism, merey marzey – My body, my will’, you people think she should feel ashamed ? You, the men, should. If God has given her a body, God has also given her the right to do whatever the f*ck she wants to do with it. When you go out, and get n*ked in front of a woman you just met, don’t you think it’s degrading your honour ? Don’t you feel ashamed that it’s eroding your dignity ? If not, then why the f*ck you have linked and chained your honour to her ?
And what’s wrong with the slogan ? Nothing at all. Why don’t we understand that it’s her body, let her do whatever the f*ck she wants to do with it. And it’s not rocket science, it is a simple fact. The sooner you understand it, the better it will be.
Feminism, a concept which many haven’t understood yet. A word, initially phrased in french medical books, in the Eighteenth century, is not mere a word, but a whole movement of activism endorsed, adopted, organised and propagated. Google it, and you will get to learn alot more. But, i personally believe – and although, being a topic of my interest – it is a complete process of transforming the society. It is to bring equity rather than equality and is to shape the world in a way that is capable of offering and providing equal opportunity to both man and woman. This is equity.
If she says, ‘Apna khana khudh garam karo – Cook ( not sure what the british variant of ‘garam’ in this very context is ) it yourself. So, instead of reacting, why don’t you men go to the kitchen and cook it yourself, if it is meant to feed your own stomach. Start doing it, you will learn it gradually. And the good thing is, your daughters will not suffer. Prophet Muhammad said, ‘The best amongst you is the one who is best to his wives, and i am the best amongst you because i am best to my wives’.
Finally, Mr Khalil-ur-Rehman, bloody misogynist, i read it out somewhere that your b*tch – this is what he thinks of her – left you and that episode had a life-changing effect on your personal life. Listen, ‘Not all women are b*tches. Only those are, who unluckily, get men like you.’
